During night the plants release carbon dioxide (CO2) which is a poisonous gas and injurious to health. That is why it is not advisable to sleep under trees during night.

The other reason might be that trees especially the tall trees act as lightning rods, lightning likes to take the shortest distance to ground, hitting a tall tree is often the shortest route for lightening to ‘earth’. So, it is advisable not to shelter under a tree during rain or thunder storming making it dangerous to sleep under a tree during the particular weather.
